1. Click on The First Federal Congress and Introduction. In the right tab bar what is the “Eleventh Pillar”?
The 11th Pillar is linking a pillar structural cruciality to the First Federal Congress. It said that each pillar represented a state and each state that ratified was a pillar. It served to show the people the vision of a solid foundation for the new government.
2. Click on New York as the Seat of government. In the right tab bar what do some of the critical comments complain about?
They are complaining about the general vibe and cleanliness of the state. They state that they don’t like the scent of the scenery so they want to go back to the countryside or rural areas. They complain about the stench, the pollution, and the messiness of everything.
3. Click on Setting Precedent. In the right tab bar click on Mr. Lloyd’s notes and tell me some of the challenges he faced.
He faced a lot of hard work in order to publish and sell these copies of the debates. It was ambitious and in turn very straining. He only had quill pens, large sheets of paper, and a primitive form of shorthand. This combined with the complexity and quickness of the debate made it difficult. Lloyd would eventually abandon the project because of how much work it required.
4. Click on An Imperial Presidency. In the right tab click on the Washington Family. What is the family sitting around in the painting?
They are sitting around a table with a map on it. Specifically, it is the map of the federal city.
5. Click on Establishing a Revenue System. In the right tab bar click on the Coasting Act. What did the legislation benefit?
The legislation would benefit the AMerican owned ships involved in coastal trade that had been built in the U.S. This would encourage trade and the regulation of trade between ports in the U.S. as well as encouraging American shipping were duties of Congress.
6. Click on The Expansion of the Empire. In the right tab bar click on the Northwest Territory Bill. What did that legislation re-affirm?
The Northwest Territory Bill resolved the issue of whether new states would be accepted into the U.S. on equal grounds of the original 13. It would reaffirm the statutory validity of the Northwest Ordinance of 1787. It states that all new states would be accepted equally.
7. Click on Funding the National Debt. In the right tab bar click on the Certificate issued by Timothy Pickering. What does that certificate depict?
The U.S. debt consisted of many fiscal papers issued by the Continental Congress during the Revolutionary War. This would depict the U.S. promising to pay George Galand $77.00 for his work as a sail and tent maker for the first three month go 1781.
